Zion Williamson Injury Update: Out Indefinitely – “He’s Disappointed”
Another setback for Zion Williamson: the Duke product is out indefinitely with a right adductor strain. Here are the latest updates
Another stoppage for Zion Williamson. The Pelicans star will be sidelined indefinitely due to a Grade 2 strain of his right adductor, the team announced on Tuesday.
The injury comes in a season already marked by absences: Williamson has missed 12 of the Pelicans’ 22 games this year. Just a few days ago, he sat out the second game of a back-to-back against the Los Angeles Lakers – a precautionary decision that did not initially lead to his inclusion on the injury report.
Pelicans head coach James Borrego commented:
I don’t have precise information on when the injury occurred. I only found out this morning. We ran diagnostic tests and have the results, but we want more details. We’re going hour by hour, day by day.
James Borrego
Despite his physical struggles, Williamson continues to show his value on the court. In the 10 games he has played so far, the Pelicans star is averaging 22.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. However, since being drafted in 2019, he has appeared in only 45% of the Pelicans’ games – a number that highlights how injuries have shaped his career to date.
Borrego also emphasized the human side of the situation:
No one wants to be on the court more than Zion. He loves the game and he loves this city. He wears this jersey with pride. He’s disappointed, but he’s here supporting us, and we’re here to support him. That’s true brotherhood.
James Borrego
The Pelicans stated that further medical updates will be provided when appropriate, leaving all return timelines open for now.
