At the root of it are ongoing issues related to POTS, a syndrome that affects the autonomic nervous system and that Porzingis publicly disclosed last year.
His $20 million contract, with a small portion guaranteed for next season, could help facilitate a trade. But his health remains the biggest concern: without significant improvement, walking away from basketball for good would be a real possibility.
