It was clear that change was needed in Orlando, with a clear need for a sharp shooter who could contribute to the team’s scoring. The Magic needed someone who could be a playmaker for the talented duo of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.

Norman Powell to the Heat 

Norman Powell joins the Miami Heat in hopes of turning Miami back into a challenging force in the Eastern Conference. The Heat’s previous season saw them finish 8th in the East, matching them up against the number 1 seed, the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs made light work of the Heat in a 4-0 sweep, which highlighted the weaknesses in the Miami Heat’s roster. 

Norman Powell is coming off his finest personal season in his 12 NBA seasons, achieving a personal best 21.8 PPG on effective shooting numbers. To bring Powell to Miami, Kyle Anderson and Kevin Love went the other way in a three-team trade, which appears to be a steal for the Heat. The Lakers acquired Ayton in a cost-effective deal, which helps with the already expensive roster. The move brings hope to Ayton, who is looking to revitalise his career following a lacklustre previous season with the Trailblazers.
