LeBron James accused of fraud: “You deceived me with The Second Decision”
A Lakers fan has sued LeBron James following the announcement of The Second Decision, which turned out to be just an advertisement
A lifelong Los Angeles Lakers fan has decided to take LeBron James to court, accusing the NBA superstar of misleading him with what has been dubbed The Second Decision and causing him to lose hundreds of dollars.
Andrew Garcia, 29, a lifelong Lakers fan, filed a lawsuit Wednesday in the Los Angeles County small claims court. Garcia claims that LeBron owes him $865.66 after the player’s announcement last Monday made him believe he was about to announce his retirement.
Convinced that “The King” was about to hang up his sneakers, Garcia rushed to Ticketmaster to buy two tickets for what he thought would be James’ final game against his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, scheduled for March 31, 2026, at a price of $432.83 per ticket.
The surprise came the next day, however, when LeBron revealed that the “big announcement” was actually just an advertisement for Hennessy. For Garcia, the tickets lost almost all of their value. In the lawsuit, the fan accuses James of “fraud, deception, misrepresentation, and any other legal grounds for compensation.”
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Garcia stated:
I wouldn’t have bought them if he wasn’t retiring. Period

He’s not the only fan to criticize the way LeBron launched the ad, but at the moment, the Lakers star has not yet publicly commented on the matter.
