There’s no good news for the Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James’ injury will require a longer recovery period than initially expected.

According to Shams Charania, the Lakers will take a very cautious approach with LeBron James. Considering his age and the toll of years of play, the franchise prefers not to rush his recovery. On October 8, the expected absence was 3-4 weeks, but recent evaluations have pushed back his return.

The new estimate points to a comeback around mid-November, with LeBron expected to miss the first 10-15 games. The Lakers want to ensure the superstar returns at 100%, even if it means sacrificing some early-season wins.

It’s certainly a big blow for the Lakers, who haven’t had their leader available during the preseason and will have to do without him in the early part of the season as well.

The Lakers, who will host Golden State in their season opener, have had a rather disappointing preseason. In five games, the Californians have suffered five losses, the latest being a 121-94 defeat against the Dallas Mavericks.
