NBA Betting Scandal: Terry Rozier Arrested

Terry Rozier has been arrested for alleged involvement in an illegal betting ring, a case linked to the scandal that already involved Jontay Porter

The FBI took the Miami Heat guard, Terry Rozier, into custody as part of a federal investigation into the illegal sports betting network that is shaking the NBA.

The news, reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, comes ahead of a scheduled press conference at 4:00 PM Italian time, where the Eastern District of New York and FBI Director Kash Patel will outline the details of the investigation and related arrests.

According to reports, Rozier had been under investigation since last January for his alleged role in an illegal betting operation dating back to 2023, when he was still playing for the Charlotte Hornets.

The federal probe – the same one that has already ensnared Jontay Porter – allegedly uncovered a scheme to manipulate the outcomes of certain NBA games, allowing a group of bettors to place advantageous wagers. In particular, the group is suspected to have bet against Rozier during one Hornets game, anticipating a deliberately poor performance.

If the accusations are confirmed, the impact on Rozier’s future – and on the league’s reputation itself – could be devastating. Already shaken by the Porter case, the NBA would face an unprecedented credibility crisis tied to gambling, at a time when the line between entertainment and sporting integrity is becoming increasingly blurred.
