Luka Doncic injury: “Sprain trauma”

Luka Doncic is questionable for the matchup against the Kings due to a hand injury, after rewriting Lakers history with back-to-back 40-point games

After a spectacular start to the season, Luka Doncic might be forced to slow down. The Los Angeles Lakers star has appeared on the team’s latest injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings.

The issue is a sprain trauma to his left finger – a completely new concern that hadn’t been mentioned after either the loss to the Warriors or the win over Minnesota.

The Lakers’ start (1–1) has been inconsistent, but Doncic has already made history: two consecutive 40-point games to open the season — something no player in franchise history had ever accomplished before.

After scoring 43 points against Golden State, the Slovenian superstar nearly reached 50 against the Timberwolves, finishing with 49 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists.

His offensive dominance even led coach JJ Redick to joke during the postgame press conference:

I was trying to get him to 50. I gave him three chances, then a fourth… but no, he stopped at 49. He was simply incredible

The only real concern now is his physical condition. After managing a minor groin issue in the season opener, this new finger problem might force him to sit out the game against the Kings.

The Lakers will evaluate his status in the coming hours, but the priority will be avoiding unnecessary risks this early in the season.
