Kerr Loses His Cool After Loss to Bucks: “We Never Win These Games…”

The Golden State Warriors fall to a Giannis-less Milwaukee team as Steve Kerr vents his frustration after another missed opportunity

It looked like the perfect setup for the Golden State Warriors. With Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined by a mysterious injury, the path to victory seemed wide open – or so it appeared.

Stephen Curry scored 27 points on 8-for-19 shooting (4-of-10 from deep), but the Milwaukee Bucks, led by an unexpected hero in Ryan Rollins with 32 points, had other plans. Final score: Bucks 120, Warriors 110.

After the game, Steve Kerr didn’t hold back his frustration over what’s become a recurring theme for his team:

We’re like 0-12 over the last two years when opponents sit their stars

Steve Kerr

Translation: the Warriors keep tripping over themselves whenever they face shorthanded teams.

Golden State’s real loss came through self-inflicted mistakes22 turnovers, with Curry and Jonathan Kuminga responsible for five each. Every giveaway became an easy bucket for Milwaukee. Add a cold shooting night (13 threes to the Bucks’ 19) and the formula for frustration was complete.

And of course, the narrative wrote itself: Ryan Rollins, a former Warrior (2022-23), dropped 32 points, hit five threes, and buried a dagger right after Curry had pulled Golden State within two.

Curry (27), Kuminga (24), and Jimmy Butler (23) filled the box score, but the numbers masked a deeper issue – defensive inconsistency. Eight Bucks finished in double figures: Turner 17, Anthony 16, Trent Jr. 13, Portis 12, and Kuzma, Prince, Green all with 10.

Next up, the Indiana Pacers visit San Francisco on Saturday – another team without a marquee superstar. For Golden State, it’s the perfect chance to break the trend Kerr hates most and finally win one of these games.
