Steph Curry sidelined by a virus: “The symptoms have worsened”
After pushing through against the Suns, Curry is now forced to raise the white flag: his symptoms have worsened, and Golden State will have to face the Nuggets without its star
Bad news for the Golden State Warriors – Steph Curry will miss Friday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets, which also marks the team’s debut in the NBA Cup. The two-time MVP is still dealing with a flu that’s lingered since the team’s road trip to Milwaukee and Indianapolis.
Curry had already shown early symptoms before Tuesday’s home game against the Phoenix Suns: despite fever and fatigue, he still scored 28 points in 34 minutes, but appeared drained afterward, coughing and with a strained voice, admitting he had run out of energy in the second half.
The Warriors’ medical staff then ruled him out of the following road game in Sacramento – a loss – and now also from the big matchup with Denver. Head coach Steve Kerr said he exchanged messages with Curry:
He told me the symptoms have gotten worse, so he’ll stay home to rest

Curry will not travel with the team and is expected to return only on Sunday night for the home game against the Indiana Pacers, depending on how he feels.
On the positive side, Golden State might get back two key players: Draymond Green (rib contusion) is listed as probable, while Jimmy Butler (back issue) remains questionable but optimistic about returning. Both missed the game against the Kings, but Kerr said he’s “hopeful” to have them available to face the Nuggets.
