Joel Embiid injury: “Further evaluations underway”

A new scare for Philadelphia: Embiid sidelined due to discomfort in his right knee, awaiting further tests

Bad news for the Philadelphia 76ers – Joel Embiid will miss the matchup against the Boston Celtics because of right knee soreness. The Cameroonian center is being held out for the first time this season due to an issue unrelated to his previous recovery from surgery on his left knee.

After undergoing arthroscopic surgery last spring, Embiid returned to action in October, following a minutes and rest plan that limited him in the second games of back-to-backs. In six appearances so far, he has averaged 19.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 23.3 minutes, shooting 56.6% from the field – numbers that have been trending upward, though still below his usual dominant standards.

The right knee issue is not currently considered serious, but it’s a warning sign that shouldn’t be overlooked, especially given Embiid’s long history of injuries.

Further evaluations will be conducted before providing additional updates on Joel Embiid’s condition.

Embiid’s absence against Boston comes at a key moment to test the resilience of Nick Nurse’s group, once again challenged to balance the delicate equation between health and competitiveness surrounding their star player.
