Stephen Curry Injury: “We’re Waiting for the Tests”

An unreal silence enveloped the Chase Center when Stephen Curry collapsed to the floor, but the initial diagnosis avoided the worst

Stephen Curry left the Chase Center with more questions than answers. In the final moments of the NBA Cup game between the Warriors and the Rockets, a grimace of pain and his hand immediately going to his leg froze the arena.

For a few seconds, everyone feared the worst: a knee problem, maybe something serious. However, shortly after the buzzer, the Warriors’ official statement eased the initial anxiety: it is “only” a contusion to the right quadriceps. Tests will clarify the extent of the injury.

The tension on Steve Kerr’s face during the post-game press conference was evident, but the GSW Head Coach also let slip a small sigh of relief.

When I heard it was the quadriceps, I felt almost relieved. It’s still better than an ankle or knee injury

The evening didn’t end much better for the Warriors in terms of the result. Houston pulled off a significant 104-100 win, improving to 12-4 on the season and confirming a high-level start to the year. The Warriors, on the other hand, dropped to 10-10, a record reflecting a shaky start full of uncertainties – now including physical ones.

Curry went down just as Golden State was making their final push in the game, and from that moment, the tone of the match changed. Beyond the results of the medical tests, the lingering question remains the same: how long can the team manage without their offensive anchor?

The answer will come in the next few hours, but for now, there is an almost paradoxical awareness in San Francisco: although the scare was significant, the situation could have been much worse.
