Mike Brown compares Josh Hart to Andre Iguodala
Mike Brown pulls out an unexpected comparison while commenting on yet another solid performance from Josh Hart
Even considering the various offseason signings aimed at deepening the rotation, the first real revolution Mike Brown brought upon taking over the New York Knicks bench involved the structure of the starting lineup: after the heavy workload handed to him by Tom Thibodeau (38.5 minutes per game between January and March), Josh Hart began the new season coming off the bench.
The recent physical issues suffered by OG Anunoby have brought the former Trail Blazer back into the starting group, and he responded by picking up right where he left off last season – the one that cemented him as one of the most efficient players in the league when it comes to filling every column of the stat sheet.
Following another all-around performance, Brown praised one of his predecessor’s undeniable favorites, who over the past month has definitively reaffirmed his central role in the Knicks’ system.
Josh can do everything: in some areas he’s elite, and in the others he still does very well. The same goes for defense, where he can guard up to five different positions.

During a recent interview, Brown shared a mental comparison involving the No. 3, later reiterated in the post-game press conference after the matchup against the Toronto Raptors:
He reminds me of Andre Iguodala, in the sense that if you don’t really understand basketball, it’s hard to appreciate their game. When you watch them, you might think: ‘He can’t do this, he can’t do that,’ but in reality they can do a bit of everything.

Looking at it with a cool head – without taking accolades into account – Brown’s words find validation in Andre Iguodala, whose athletic impact was particularly impressive in the early stages of his career.
As for basketball IQ and adaptability, Brown’s assessment seems not only well-reasoned but indisputable: Iguodala remains a model of completeness and on-court leadership.
