Josh Giddey injury: “I don’t have any updates right now”

A night to forget for Chicago: the heavy loss to Minnesota takes a back seat after injuries to Coby White and Josh Giddey, both now under observation

Josh Giddey Injury

The game at the United Center quickly turned into a nightmare for the Chicago Bulls, who were blown out 136-101 by the Minnesota Timberwolves and forced to deal with two significant injuries. Within a matter of minutes, Coby White and Josh Giddey both left the floor, leaving Chicago without its primary offensive anchors.

The first setback came early in the opening quarter, when Coby White -Chicago’s leading scorer this season at 20.5 points per game – was forced to exit with a right calf injury. It was a concerning sign, especially considering White had already missed the first 11 games of the season due to a similar issue.

The situation worsened at the start of the second half. Just one minute into the third quarter, Josh Giddey asked to be subbed out while visibly in pain, clutching his left hamstring after delivering an assist to Nikola Vučević. The Australian guard, who had already scored 11 points, left the court limping and did not return.

The sense is that the injury occurred without contact, a detail that often leads to unpredictable recovery timelines. For now, the medical staff has not provided a clear timetable.

Donovan without answers: Bulls in emergency mode

After the game, head coach Billy Donovan was unable to offer concrete updates on the status of his two guards:

I don’t have any updates right now. We’ll have to evaluate over the next few hours.

As if that weren’t enough, Chicago will also be without Zach Collins, sidelined with a sprained right big toe that will keep him out for several games. Another blow for a team already short on rotation depth.

The Bulls, who entered the matchup with a 15–16 record, will return to the floor Wednesday against the New Orleans Pelicans. Giddey’s availability remains highly uncertain, and the worst-case scenario – a prolonged absence – cannot be ruled out.
