Steph Curry Defends Kerr After Ejection: “Crazy Calls”
Steve Kerr’s ejection sparks the Warriors: furious protests, referees in the spotlight, and Curry – fouled out – standing up for his coach
Seeing Steve Kerr lose his cool is a rare sight. But when it happens, it usually means something has truly gone wrong. During the Warriors’ narrow 103-102 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Golden State head coach became the game’s unexpected protagonist, getting ejected early in the fourth quarter after a series of officiating decisions that set the bench off.
It all started with a Stephen Curry basket: a soft floater, the ball through the net, two points that seemed to count. Then the late whistle wiped it away. Offensive foul on the floor, no basket. A call that sent Kerr into a rage and left Curry stunned.
Usually they let it go if the shot goes in. I’ve never seen a situation like that.

The tension escalated moments later, when a Gary Payton II layup was blocked by John Collins – replays clearly showed a goaltending that went uncalled. That sparked a Clippers fast break, Curry’s fifth foul, and the final straw. Kerr stormed onto the court, yelling and protesting, held back by assistants, then hit with two straight technicals. Automatic ejection.
Honestly, I was about to do it myself, then I saw him. That’s why I fouled Kris Dunn: I was watching the coach lose his mind and I appreciated it. Two crazy calls back to back… I love it. That fire from Steve. Somebody had to do it tonight.

Paradoxically, Kerr’s exit ignited the Warriors. Golden State responded, rallied, and fought down to the final possession. Curry knocked down two massive threes and finished with 27 points (9-of-23 shooting), before fouling out with 43 seconds left – a call he himself said was correct.
The result didn’t reward the Warriors, but the message did. Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green all defended Kerr without hesitation. On a night full of frustration, their coach became the lightning rod.
