Payton Pritchard Reaches 800 Threes with the Celtics, Surpasses Ray Allen

Payton Pritchard leads the Boston Celtics at the Chase Center and hits a new historic milestone: 800 three-pointers in green and white. Ray Allen has been surpassed

The Boston Celtics opened a long Western road trip with a comfortable win, taking down the Chase Center after controlling the game for three quarters before slightly easing off in the final period, still managing to preserve an 11-point lead.

Within an impressive 42.5% shooting performance from beyond the arc, once again it was Payton Pritchard who stood out, knocking down 6-of-11 from three – a performance with special symbolic value.

With 800 made threes in a Celtics uniform, the former Oregon product passes Ray Allen and climbs to sixth place on the franchise’s all-time list.

The milestone came in fewer games: the No. 11’s career percentages confirm his status as a true specialist, and if his tenure with the Massachusetts franchise continues for several more seasons, the possibility of approaching Paul Pierce’s record would become far from unrealistic.

The most significant aspect of his season, however, remains his now-established offensive weight within the Celtics’ offense, especially in the absence of Jayson Tatum. In that regard, Joe Mazzulla’s decision to deploy him as a weapon off the bench, maximizing his impact as a game-changer, is producing the desired results.
