A tough loss for the Charlotte Hornets, who fell 105-101 at the Spectrum Center to the Houston Rockets. A setback for the North Carolina team, which had been riding a positive stretch in the NBA.

In the postgame, however, the result took a back seat to what had happened hours earlier to LaMelo Ball. The Hornets point guard was involved in a car accident in Charlotte last Wednesday. Despite the scare, the 2001-born guard reassured everyone after the game:

It was a bad experience, but we’re all good. We’re blessed. God is great.

According to local reports, LaMelo Ball was driving a customized Hummer when, while passing through an intersection in downtown Charlotte, he collided with another vehicle.

Videos circulating online reportedly show the car swerving before impact. The causes of the accident remain unclear: one of the vehicle’s wheels detached after the collision, but it is still uncertain whether the issue occurred prior to the crash.

Just 24 hours after the incident, LaMelo Ball was on the floor against the Houston Rockets, finishing with 11 points (5-of-14 shooting), 7 assists and 7 rebounds. Not an efficient shooting night, but a meaningful appearance in terms of presence and leadership, as he attempted to shift the focus back solely to basketball.
