Another setback for Joel Embiid and fresh questions about the physical condition of the Philadelphia 76ers star. The Cameroonian center will be sidelined for at least the next three games due to a right oblique strain, as officially announced by the franchise on Saturday.

The injury was confirmed by an MRI performed after the 124-117 win over the Miami Heat, a game in which Embiid still finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds, playing through pain after briefly heading back to the locker room.

A Season Marked by Injuries

The oblique issue is just the latest episode in an extremely complicated season from a health standpoint. Following left knee surgery, Embiid has appeared in 33 of 59 games, dealing with nagging injuries and setbacks that have almost exclusively affected the right side of his body: knee, ankle, shin, and now the oblique.

In recent weeks, the center had already missed five consecutive games with a right knee issue. His return, highlighted by the victory over Miami, seemed to bring some stability, but this latest injury reopens concerns.

And yet, when he has been on the floor, his production has remained at an elite level: 29 points per game in February, the best mark in the Eastern Conference during that span.
