Trae Young Ejected from the Bench: “I’ll Bring Energy and Competitiveness”
Trae Young hasn’t made his debut with the Washington Wizards yet, but he has already picked up his first ejection. His official debut is set for the game against the Utah Jazz
He hasn’t played a single minute in his new uniform, but Trae Young has already made headlines in Washington. The new star of the Washington Wizards was ejected from the bench during a 123-118 loss to the Houston Rockets, on a night that was supposed to be simply about waiting for his official debut.
Trae Young Ejected: What Happened
Young, still in street clothes and out of the rotation for Monday’s game, stepped onto the court during a heated exchange between Tari Eason and Jamir Watkins, directly protesting to an official.
The move didn’t go unnoticed: immediate ejection for the former Hawk, despite not even being in the game.
A curious episode, especially considering that just hours earlier Young had announced on social media that he would make his Washington debut Thursday against the Utah Jazz.
Later on X, he downplayed the situation:
Don’t expect me to get ejected too many more times… but I’ll definitely bring energy and competitiveness when I get back on the court with my brothers!

When Will Trae Young Debut with the Wizards?
His official debut is scheduled for Thursday at home against the Utah Jazz. It would mark his first game since Dec. 27, after being sidelined with a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury and a right quadriceps issue.
Head coach Brian Keefe explained that the former Atlanta Hawks guard is expected to be on a minutes restriction, likely between 17 and 20 minutes.
