New Injury for Giannis Antetokounmpo: “I’ll See How I Feel Tomorrow”
Giannis Antetokounmpo left the game against the Indiana Pacers after a possible knee hyperextension. Here are the latest updates on the Milwaukee Bucks star
The Milwaukee Bucks secured an important 134-123 win over the Indiana Pacers, but the night at Fiserv Forum also raised concerns about the condition of Giannis Antetokounmpo. The two-time MVP left the game in the third quarter after an awkward landing following a dunk.
The third-quarter incident
The moment that triggered concern came late in the third quarter. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished a fast-break dunk, but on the landing his knee bent in an unnatural way, forcing him to immediately slow down.
Despite the scare, Giannis briefly stayed on the court. In fact, on the very next possession he threw down another dunk, before being fouled on the following play and heading to the free-throw line for two attempts. Right after those free throws, the Milwaukee Bucks medical staff decided to escort him to the locker room.
From that moment on, Antetokounmpo did not return to the floor.
Doc Rivers’ comments
After the game, Doc Rivers offered an initial evaluation of the situation, while avoiding any firm conclusions.
My impression is that he hyperextended his knee, but that’s just a guess
Doc Rivers
So far it remains a preliminary assessment, with the possibility that further evaluations could be required in the coming hours.
Giannis Antetokounmpo downplays the concern
Giannis Antetokounmpo himself tried to reassure everyone after the game, explaining that he is not particularly worried and does not currently plan to undergo immediate tests.
I’ll go home, sleep, and see how I feel tomorrow. I’ll also try to lift a little. If I feel any discomfort, then we’ll evaluate what to do
Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Greek superstar also emphasized that he believed he could have continued playing.
I think I could have finished the game, but I followed the advice of the medical staff

A physically challenging season
Before leaving the game, Antetokounmpo had already delivered another dominant performance: 31 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists in 30 minutes, playing a key role in the Bucks’ victory.
However, managing his physical condition has been a central storyline this season. The 31-year-old forward has already missed 31 games, the highest total of his career in a single season.
For Milwaukee, the main priority over the next few hours will be determining whether the early exit against the Pacers was simply a minor scare – or another setback in a season already marked by multiple injuries.
