Nikola Jokic Dominates Without Scoring: “Tough Road Trip”
Nikola Jokic finishes the win over the 76ers with just 8 points but 14 assists: despite his season-low scoring, he dismantles the opposing defense
While the NBA continues to chase scoring records and highlight plays, Nikola Jokic keeps proving you can dismantle an opponent without even looking at the rim. In the Denver Nuggets’ dominant win over the Philadelphia 76ers (124-96), the Serbian superstar delivered an all-around performance that bordered on absurd.
In a first half controlled from start to finish, Jokic put up a stat line typically reserved for smaller, quick point guards: 2 points, 4 rebounds, and a remarkable 10 assists.
A feat that, since 1997, had only been recorded by elite playmakers like Chris Paul. Unlike CP3, however, Jokic is a 7-footer capable of orchestrating an offense with surgical precision.
This win comes as a breath of fresh air after a brutal stretch of games. Denver is coming off a grueling five-game run against some of the league’s top contenders: from the Lakers to the rising Thunder, including matchups with the Spurs, Rockets, and Knicks. Despite going 2-3 over that span, the team’s morale remains high.
We faced a tough road trip against very good teams. In this back-to-back, we showed good basketball. We need to keep it going and build our rhythm
Nikola Jokic
With the NBA Playoffs approaching, Jokic and the Nuggets appear to have found their direction again, ready to resume their push for the NBA title with the strength of their collective play.
An unconventional leader
The strength of the Nuggets lies in Jokic’s statistical uniqueness. The three-time MVP doesn’t need to score 30 points to be the best player on the floor – he simply needs to touch the ball to elevate every teammate.
Against a 76ers team without star Joel Embiid, Denver cruised, allowing its leader to rest while finishing with just 8 points but an impressive 14 assists in only 25 minutes.
