“Nature Calls”: Anthony Edwards Misses Tip-Off in Return
Anthony Edwards returns after six games out and scores 17 points against Dallas, but the real headline of the night is the reason behind his delayed tip-off appearance
Anthony Edwards returned to the floor after a six-game absence, contributing 17 points in 23 minutes in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 124-94 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
Ant was phenomenal. Great defense, aggressive, quicker decisions. Everything looked easy for him

But his return didn’t start as expected.
Announced in the starting lineup and introduced to the crowd, Edwards was nowhere to be seen at tip-off, with Mike Conley stepping in his place. He only appeared 2 minutes and 1 second after the game had started, casually jogging onto the floor as if nothing had happened.
And in fact, the explanation from head coach Chris Finch was as simple as it was genuine:

Even Edwards joked about the situation postgame:
Mike had my back… being back playing made me feel like a kid in a candy store

Edwards’ return may not have followed the usual script, but between laughs and buckets, he quickly made his presence felt – reminding everyone why the Timberwolves continue to rely on him year after year.
