Durant Silences Brooks: “My Worst Is Better Than Your Best Season”

Kevin Durant drops 24 points against his former Suns: among his eight made shots, a crossover that sends Dillon Brooks to the floor

Il faccia a faccia tra Kevin Durant e Dillon Brooks, stelle di Rockets e Suns

While most 37-year-olds begin to deal with the wear and tear of time, Kevin Durant shows no signs of slowing down. In the Rockets’ visit to the Suns, which Houston won 119-105, leaving Phoenix stuck in the Play-In picture, KD was decisive with 24 points – despite shooting an inefficient 8-of-20 from the field.

The highlight came in the second quarter, when the former Sun (traded to Houston in the biggest deal in history) delivered a signature moment against Dillon Brooks: a lightning-quick crossover that sent the Suns defender off balance and down to the floor with his hands on the hardwood.

Unfazed, KD followed it up with his trademark mid-range jumper over the outstretched arms of Mark Williams, silencing the arena in admiration and asserting himself over Brooks with a touch of trash talk:

My worst is better than your best season

Kevin Durant

This moment is just the latest example of why Durant is considered the most fluid scorer in basketball history. At 37, the two-time Finals MVP hasn’t lost a step in either quickness or elegance.

Doing it against Brooks likely carried extra meaning: the two have a history, coming off seasons filled with verbal and physical clashes that even led to Brooks’ ejection last year after a heated confrontation – in the same matchup, but with reversed jerseys.

The Rockets, now chasing their seventh straight win, are targeting the Lakers for the fourth spot in the Western Conference and home-court advantage. If Durant continues to move with this kind of ease, the mission looks far from impossible.
