Jalen Williams Injury, Daigneault: “It’s a muscle issue”

Jalen Williams exits Game 2 between the Thunder and Suns with a left hamstring injury. Oklahoma City leads 2-0, but concern over his condition is growing

A tough blow for the Oklahoma City Thunder during their 120-107 Game 2 win over the Phoenix Suns: Jalen Williams was forced to leave the court with a muscle injury to his left thigh.

The incident occurred in the third quarter, during a fast break where Williams attempted a contested layup, landing awkwardly and showing clear signs of pain. Immediately after the play, he pointed to his left hamstring, signaling the issue both physically and verbally.

Shortly after, he committed an intentional foul to exit the game and headed to the locker room for further evaluation.

Jalen Williams’ condition

Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault confirmed the nature of the injury but did not provide a recovery timeline:

We believe he aggravated his left hamstring. Over the next few days we’ll run the necessary tests and update you once we have a clearer picture

On his player’s performance, the coach added:

He was playing really well, with energy and quality on both ends of the floor. He was in rhythm and creating great looks for his teammates

A strong Playoff start before the injury

Williams had opened the NBA Playoffs at a high level, especially after a regular season affected by physical setbacks.

In Game 1, he posted 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, while in Game 2 he had 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting with 4 assists in just 23 minutes before the injury.

Even last season, he entered the playoffs less than fully healthy, highlighting how durability remains a central issue.

Thunder up 2-0, but focus shifts to his status

Despite Williams’ injury, the Thunder extended their series lead to 2-0 against the Suns. Now, however, attention inevitably turns to the condition of the forward ahead of Game 3 in Arizona.
