Spurs now look scary, Wemby: “What we just did gives us confidence”
The Spurs demolished Minnesota in Game 6 to punch their ticket to the Western Conference Finals. Stephon Castle was unstoppable, De’Aaron Fox led the charge, and Victor Wembanyama is already looking ahead to OKC
The San Antonio Spurs crushed the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 6 with a dominant 139-109 win, advancing to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2017.
It was a game controlled from start to finish, with San Antonio looking fully in command of the pace all night long. And the craziest part? The Spurs didn’t even need an out-of-this-world performance from Victor Wembanyama to dismantle Minnesota.
Instead, it was Stephon Castle, De’Aaron Fox, and Dylan Harper doing the damage – a trio that continues to improve game after game and is quickly becoming a nightmare matchup for any defense.
Stephon Castle stole the spotlight with an unbelievable performance: 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. He came out firing immediately, scoring 19 points in the opening quarter alone.
Threes, drives, perfect reads – Minnesota never found an answer for him.
Even Wembanyama was impressed after the game:
He was incredible. Always composed, always making the right play. He understood perfectly when to shoot and when to create for others
Victor Wembanyama
The Wolves spent the entire night trying to crowd Wemby around the rim, but in doing so they gave the Spurs’ perimeter players too much space. San Antonio made them pay over and over again.
Castle also entered an exclusive franchise club alongside Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan, David Robinson, and George Gervin.
Fox completely changes the Spurs’ ceiling
The arrival of De’Aaron Fox continues to make a massive impact. Against Minnesota, he finished with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting while making the game look effortless.
Fox explained why this Spurs offense works so well:
There are always at least two of us on the floor who can basically do everything: attack, create, and score
De’Aaron Fox
He also spoke about his relationship with Castle and Harper:
I’m just trying to pass along a few tricks. They’re already extremely talented – I’m just trying to help them better understand how to move in this league
De’Aaron Fox
And honestly, it shows.
Wembanyama already looking ahead
Even without dominating the ball, Victor Wembanyama still finished with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
The French superstar also continues piling up historic numbers: alongside David Robinson, he’s the only player since the 1970s to record at least 200 points, 100 rebounds, and 40 blocks in his first 10 playoff games.
But after the game, Wemby seemed even more energized by what’s next for San Antonio.
You know what gives me confidence? What we just did
Victor Wembanyama
And honestly, it’s hard to argue with him.
He later added:
Of course we’re confident, but we have to keep the right level of confidence… being here is something special
Victor Wembanyama
Now comes OKC
Up next for San Antonio is the toughest possible challenge: the Oklahoma City Thunder.
A young, explosive team that dominated the Western Conference during the regular season. But these Spurs are playing with tremendous confidence right now – and most importantly, they genuinely look like they’re having fun together.
Dylan Harper made that clear:
What’s waiting for us is another level. But we’ve got to keep pushing hard
Dylan Harper
And with Castle, Fox, and Wembanyama playing at this level, this series has all the ingredients to be must-watch basketball.
