After the game, as he returned accompanied by team security personnel, Wembanyama was greeted by a group of New York Knicks fans who showered him with boos and taunts. In a video that quickly went viral across social media, an egg can also be seen being thrown in his direction, although it does not appear to have struck him.

The footage shows the French big man approaching the hotel entrance while surrounded by security. After the egg smashed into a nearby street sign, Wembanyama turned toward someone standing near the entrance, apparently seeking an explanation, before heading inside the building.

At this time, it remains unclear who threw the object or whether the player was actually hit. The Spurs have not issued any immediate comment regarding the incident.
