Kon Knueppel says goodbye to LaMelo Ball: “I already miss him, he was special”

An up-tempo style of play, at times taken to the extreme, built around constantly hunting the first available three-point shot: the Charlotte Hornets missed the playoffs for a tenth straight season, but they also began laying the foundation for a new identity they hope will eventually return them to contention.

Those signs convinced the front office to make a bold move, trading away the player who had long been the face of the franchise: new Minnesota Timberwolves guard LaMelo Ball.

It was definitely a shock. LaMelo is a great guy. He was awesome… It was amazing being around him every day, and that’s something I already miss. Just the joy and energy he brought to the locker room. He’s outgoing, but every single day he’d come in and greet everyone – the trainers, the massage therapists, the assistants, whoever was cooking in the dining room. He’s just the kind of person you love having around
