Draymond Green takes a jab at Durant: “Did he think he was on his burner account?”
First came the joke on social media, then the explanation on his podcast. Draymond Green weighed in on Kevin Durant’s comments about the new Philadelphia 76ers
When Kevin Durant claimed that the new Philadelphia 76ers are, at least on paper, even better than the legendary 2017 Golden State Warriors, it was only a matter of time before someone from that dynasty responded. That response came from Draymond Green, one of the key figures on those championship teams.
Did he think he was on his burner account?

The comment was a clear reference to the so-called burner accounts—anonymous secondary social media profiles that some public figures have used to comment online without revealing their identity.
It also appeared that Klay Thompson wanted to weigh in. In an Instagram Story, he simply wrote:
Hey man, you good?

After joking about the situation, however, Green also tried to explain what he believes was behind Durant’s reasoning.
During his podcast, he said his former teammate tends to evaluate teams primarily through their offensive potential and scoring talent, while making it clear that he does not agree with the comparison between the current 76ers and the 2017 Warriors.
KD is simply showing respect to the 76ers. You have to understand how he sees basketball. To him, this game is, and always will be, about putting the ball in the basket. That’s why he focuses on players who average 25 points a game

But that’s where Green drew the line. When the conversation shifted to comparing the two teams, his opinion was very different.
He said these Sixers are better on paper than the 2016-17 Warriors. That’s where I just can’t agree, and honestly, I don’t think the comparison works

According to Green, the comparison goes far beyond offensive talent.
The Warriors that welcomed Durant were coming off a 73-win season, had already won an NBA championship, and possessed an almost perfect balance of offense, defense, playmaking and experience. Durant’s arrival transformed an already dominant team into one of the greatest in NBA history, winning back-to-back titles.
The new 76ers, on the other hand, boast enormous offensive firepower with LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, V.J. Edgecombe and Anfernee Simons, but they still come with plenty of unanswered questions.
The roster features several young players with limited experience at the highest level, while key stars such as Embiid continue to carry significant injury concerns, making such lofty comparisons difficult before the group has even played a single game together.
