The move from Boston to Philadelphia doesn’t seem to have taken away any of Jaylen Brown’s motivation. If anything, it has had the opposite effect. Just weeks away from the start of his first season with the Philadelphia 76ers, the former Celtics star has already made it clear what kind of attitude he plans to bring to his new city.

During a Twitch livestream, Brown spoke openly about the move, the welcome he has received from the fans and, above all, his mindset heading into the 2026-27 NBA season. The message, without beating around the bush, is simple: he’s coming to Philadelphia to earn everything.

Brown doesn’t want to be treated like a superstar who arrived from Boston and is automatically entitled to everything. No special treatment and, above all, no intention of living off what he has already accomplished in his career.

Brown isn’t holding back

The strongest part of the livestream came when Brown discussed his personal and team goals. Because being willing to adapt to the 76ers’ needs certainly doesn’t mean arriving in Philadelphia with the handbrake on.

It’s a message that’s pretty hard to interpret any other way. Brown feels he still has something to prove and, above all, seems to have turned everything that has happened over the past few months into even more fuel.

Following his departure from the Celtics, several reports emerged about his relationship with Jayson Tatum and, more broadly, about Brown’s personality inside the locker room. It’s a narrative that the new Philadelphia star doesn’t appear to have particularly appreciated.
