Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook vacation in Italy after retirement
Just months after retiring from the NBA, Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook spent a week together in Portofino
Fresh off their NBA retirements, Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook chose Italy as the destination for a vacation together. The two former All-Stars, who were also involved in a 2019 trade that sent them to the Thunder and Rockets, respectively, documented their trip through several social media posts.
In one of the videos posted on Instagram, Paul, 41, who ranks second all-time in assists, threw a lob to Westbrook on a basketball court set up on a yacht. Westbrook, 37, who ranks fifth on the same list, then returned the favor to his former rival.
Westbrook announced his retirement in August, bringing an end to an 18-season NBA career, while Paul retired in February after 21 years in the league. For Paul, his final experience with the Clippers ended on a particularly bitter note.
Considered two of the greatest point guards in NBA history, the two won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2012 Olympics. Now, after bringing their respective careers to an end, they could find themselves together once again on another stage: both are widely considered candidates to be part of the same Basketball Hall of Fame class in 2029.
