A fitting surprise accompanied the end of Trae Young’s camp, which the point guard and his team brought back again this year.

Young started a video call with teammate A.J. Dybantsa, the face of the new-look Washington Wizards, giving the young participants the surprise of receiving a greeting from one of their future fan favorites.

It was a celebratory moment that was immediately shared across the Wizards’ social channels, and it also showed just how evident the chemistry between the two already is before they have even shared the court: certainly an encouraging sign for the franchise and its fans.

Dybantsa’s skill set and potential, as the No. 1 overall pick in a deep and talented Draft class, are certainly not in question.

The motivation and enthusiasm with which he will begin his career in the nation’s capital, alongside an established player who is also looking for redemption like Young, are instead aspects that remain to be discovered. The early signs, at least off the court, suggest that a connection is already being built.
