LeBron to the Warriors, Curry: “He chose his own path”

Stephen Curry talks about LeBron James not joining Golden State. Behind the Warriors’ attempt was also an idea from Draymond Green

Certain offseason possibilities can create historic situations, and one of them was the idea of seeing LeBron James with the Golden State Warriors, which was concrete at least in terms of contact between the sides. Stephen Curry confirmed as much, speaking on SiriusXM NBA Radio about Golden State’s summer pursuit and the former Lakers star’s decision to choose the Philadelphia 76ers.

Curry explained that there were conversations about James’ future, without describing the situation as a deal that was close to happening, with LeBron preferring to take the time he needed before making his decision.

He took his time, he was patient, and then the Philadelphia surprise happened. He wanted to follow his own path, and he had every right to do that. As a friend and an Olympic teammate, I’m happy he found a place where he wants to be

Draymond Green had also tried to convince James to come to the Bay. In comments reported by Marc Spears, the veteran big man said he pitched him on an intriguing challenge: joining forces with Curry to take on the NBA’s new generation of stars.

How cool would it have been to see the two guys who went against each other for so many years on the biggest stage come together now that the younger guys are taking over! Just to say, even once: “Hey guys, we can still do this. Make some room for us”

Green’s message was aimed above all at players such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama and even former teammate Luka Doncic, symbols of the generational shift at the top of the league.
