NBA rescinds Luka Doncic’s technical foul
Luka Doncic has reason to smile: the NBA has rescinded one of his technical fouls. That’s good news for the Slovenian star, given his history over the past few seasons
Luka Doncic entered the season with a clear goal: avoid piling up technical fouls the way he often has in the past. That’s no easy task for the Slovenian star, but this time he got a little help from the NBA itself.
The league rescinded the technical foul assessed to the Los Angeles Lakers star late in the second quarter of a 138-117 win over the Miami Heat.
The decision cuts Doncic’s season total from two technicals to one, wiping out one of the two he picked up over his last three games.
Luka had gotten off to a good start on that front, going without a technical in his first four games. Then came two in three games, bringing an issue that has followed him for several seasons back into focus.
And to think he’d made his intentions clear in the season opener.
I’m trying not to get any technical fouls this year

It’s an understandable goal, especially given his track record. In the NBA, reaching 16 technical fouls during the regular season automatically triggers a one-game suspension and a $5,000 fine.
Having the technical rescinded is certainly good news for Doncic, especially since technical fouls have caused him more than a few problems in recent years. But the real goal is still the one he set at the start of the season: avoid getting them in the first place without having to wait for the NBA to wipe them away.
