Memphis Grizzlies 2025-2026 guide: Roster, Depth Chart & Key Players
Between injuries and uncertainty, the Memphis Grizzlies enter the new season in search of identity and everything will once again revolve around Ja Morant
Beyond the string of injuries that has ravaged them, the Memphis Grizzlies remain one of the most intriguing teams in the Western Conference heading into next season, particularly to see whether this group still has something left to offer at the highest level.
At the end of the article, you can consult all the guides to the 30 NBA teams by accessing the Guide Index.
Dunkest NBA Fantasy Basketball has over 200,000 fantasy coaches competing every year since 2013 with points, assists, and rebounds. It’s free and can be played via iOS app, Android app, and Website.
Key Players
An ankle injury will delay his start to the season, but Ja Morant (G, 15.0 cr) remains the focal point of Memphis’ hopes. Following a turbulent stretch of suspensions and physical setbacks, this might be one of his final chances to re-establish himself among the league’s elite.
By his side stands the last survivor of the Jenkins era core, Jaren Jackson Jr. (F, 11.0 cr). Also recovering from injury, JJJ showed clear signs of maturity and consistency last season. If he maintains that trajectory, he could finally balance his elite defense with more reliable scoring, something that would massively help fantasy managers too.
Possible Surprises
Zach Edey (C, 9.0 cr) had an up-and-down rookie campaign, revealing both promise and limitations. He may not yet be ready to anchor a true contender, but in the regular season grind, his size and rebounding instincts should comfortably deliver double-doubles on a nightly basis.
Another second-year prospect worth watching is Jaylen Wells (F, 7.0 cr), projected to inherit Desmond Bane’s role. After flashes of potential and sporadic minutes last year, Wells should now enjoy a stable starting spot, allowing him to find rhythm and grow quickly as a perimeter threat.
The other contender for the shooting guard spot will be the versatile Cedric Coward (G, 6.5 cr), a rookie known for his strong physical impact and slightly more mature age compared to the rest of his class, due to a college season lost to injuries. However, when he did play, he displayed such technical and athletic dominance that it suggests great potential as he makes the leap to the NBA.
Players to Avoid
Despite his value for our teams last year, Scottie Pippen Jr. (G, 8.0 cr) is unlikely to repeat that success. With Morant healthy and commanding heavy minutes, Pippen’s role will shrink back to backup duties. He’ll remain a steady piece for Memphis in real life, as a backup.
Likely Starting Lineup
PG: Ja Morant (Guard, 15.0 Credits)
SG: Jaylen Wells (Guard, 7.0 Credits)
SF: Santi Aldama (Forward, 8.0 Credits)
PF: Jaren Jackson Jr (Forward, 11.0 Credits)
C: Zach Edey (Center, 9.0 Credits)
Power Ranking
The start will inevitably be challenging due to an extremely thin rotation, but in the long run, this roster has everything needed to perform well in the Regular Season. Surrounding Ja Morant with solid role players like Ty Jerome will make him the sole technical focal point of this new cycle, with both highs and uncertainties hanging over him. As a result, it’s difficult to approach this season with complete confidence for the Grizzlies. However, if the young players develop enough to compensate for Bane’s painful absence and Ja remains available for extended periods, a strong finish in the Western Conference would be well within reach.
