Denver Nuggets 2026-2027 guide
From Jokic to potential 4-credit bargains: let’s analyze the Denver Nuggets roster ahead of the Dunkest Draft
Since their historic 2023 championship, the first in franchise history, the Denver Nuggets have not managed to get past the second round of the Playoffs. However, the highest payroll in the entire NBA forces them to go all-in today, because there is no certainty about tomorrow.
At the end of the article, you can check out all the guides to the 30 NBA teams by visiting the Guide Index.
Dunkest NBA Fantasy Basketball is the most-played FantaNBA game in Italy, with more than 200,000 fantasy coaches competing every year since 2013 through points, assists and rebounds. It is free and can be played through the iOS app, Android app and Website.
Key players
Nikola Jokic (C, 30.0 cr.), the undisputed icon in Dunkest history, enters the final year of his contract before a player option, with the possibility of re-signing through 2028. His future is uncertain, but his relationship with the triple-double is a love story that grows more stable with each passing year.
The only question is how many games he will need to pass Russell Westbrook and take first place on the all-time list.
Keep an eye on Jamal Murray (G, 14.5 cr.) as well: in April, the Canadian wrapped up the best scoring Regular Season of his career at 25.3 points per game, while the high number of possessions he handled thanks to constant double-teams on Jokic also allowed him to dish out 7 assists per game. Simply put, one of the best second options in the league.
Potential surprises
On nights when one of the two frontmen is given some rest, coach Adelman will have the chance to test the depth of his bench and assess the value of the summer signings, from DeMar DeRozan (G, 9.0 cr.) to Cam Whitmore (F, 4.0 cr.) on a 50-game two-way contract.
Among the minimum-price options, Whitmore and Tyus Jones (G, 4.0 cr.), with enough minutes, represent two of the highest-upside investments: both have more than enough talent to fill the box score on multiple nights.
Players to avoid
Don’t get us wrong: both Aaron Gordon (F, 8.5 cr.) and last season’s major disappointment, Cameron Johnson (F, 9.0 cr.), will be asked to start and finish games, especially in close situations.
In the Regular Season, however, players on this and other teams with much lower price tags can often produce similar, if not better, numbers. And with streaky shooters like Johnson, there is never much middle ground: a perfect night from beyond the arc can easily be followed by a game that ends with a negative Dunkest score.
Projected starting five
PG: Jamal Murray (Guard, 14.5 cr.)
SG: Christian Braun (Guard, 8.5 cr.)
SF: Cameron Johnson (Forward, 9.0 cr.)
PF: Aaron Gordon (Forward, 8.5 cr.)
C: Nikola Jokic (Center, 30.0 cr.)
Power Ranking
Once again this year, the Nuggets will take the floor with a fairly clear goal: score one more point than their opponents. The front office has made an effort to increase the roster’s depth, but not by adding the defensive specialist that is still missing; instead, they brought in new options capable of creating offense even without Jokic.
