Minnesota Timberwolves 2026-2027 guide
A new backcourt, more offensive talent and plenty of question marks: let’s break down the Timberwolves and the most interesting players for Dunkest
Breaking up the core of the Minnesota Timberwolves was difficult, given the weight of some of their contracts – Randle’s above all – but the front office appears to have managed to meet Anthony Edwards’ needs without giving up the physical identity that has defined them in recent years.
At the end of the article, you can check out all the guides to the 30 NBA teams by visiting the Guide Index.
Dunkest NBA Fantasy Basketball is the most-played FantaNBA game in Italy, with more than 200,000 fantasy coaches competing every year since 2013 through points, assists and rebounds. It is free and can be played through the iOS app, Android app and Website.
Key players
Anthony Edwards (G, 16.5 cr.) appears to have reached the status and maturity of the league’s top players: more than personal glory, he seems focused on the team’s competitiveness, as shown by his willingness to play off the ball during certain stretches of games. The front office has paired him with a more natural playmaker in LaMelo Ball (G, 14.5 cr.), who adds offensive talent and perimeter danger to a team that struggled in high-scoring games.
Only time will tell whether the partnership works, both individually and as a team, but this backcourt is one of the biggest reasons for curiosity heading into next season.
Like it or not, the T’Wolves are once again starting from the polarizing Rudy Gobert (C, 11.5 cr.): with two major losses in the frontcourt – Randle and Naz Reid – it is reasonable to expect the Frenchman to play a major role in the rebounding battle and in terms of minutes. The Playoff concerns will remain, but for the Dunkest Regular Season, this version of Gobert could be a pleasant underdog at the position.
Potential surprises
Jonathan Kuminga (F, 7.0 cr.) adds an important tactical variable: increasingly comfortable on the perimeter and extremely dangerous attacking the rim, the former Warrior may finally have found his place in the league.
His temperament remains a key variable whenever he is involved, but the fit looks genuinely ideal in what also feels uncomfortably like a last-chance situation for him.
Players to avoid
Unfortunately, Donte DiVincenzo (G, 8.0 cr.) is gradually losing credibility around the NBA because his physical condition is far from what it once was. Minnesota protected itself by adding the excellent Ayo Dosunmu (G, 10.0 cr.), who will take even more opportunities away from him.
If healthy, DiVincenzo will be important for adding another major threat from beyond the arc, but there are plenty of question marks.
Projected starting five
PG: Anthony Edwards (Guard, 16.5 Credits)
SG: LaMelo Ball (Guard, 14.5 Credits)
SF: Jonathan Kuminga (Forward, 7.0 Credits)
PF: Jaden McDaniels (Forward, 9.5 Credits)
C: Rudy Gobert (Center, 11.5 Credits)
Power Ranking
In a Western Conference dominated by the Spurs-OKC rivalry, standing out will be difficult for everyone, but these T’Wolves have the defensive weapons to hurt both teams. The new additions bring more variety and perimeter shooting, rounding out a roster that is more than competitive.
One major question concerns coach Chris Finch (10.0 cr.), who has often clashed with Antman and has yet to make a real impact in the biggest moments. After yet another roster overhaul, another misstep could cost him dearly.
