New York Knicks 2026-2027 guide
The Knicks want to remain at the top of the Eastern Conference: let’s break down the roster and the best Dunkest opportunities
You don’t change a winning team, or at least not too much. After capturing the NBA championship, Mike Brown’s New York Knicks are running it back with the core that took them to the top of the league, with the goal of confirming themselves as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference.
The extensions for Hart and Towns could complicate roster management in the coming years, but right now New York has chosen continuity. That is good news for Dunkest Fantasy Basketball too, where established roles make it easier to identify both safe options and potential value picks at interesting prices.
At the end of the article, you can check out all the guides to the 30 NBA teams by visiting the Guide Index.
Dunkest NBA Fantasy Basketball is the most-played FantaNBA game in Italy, with more than 200,000 fantasy coaches competing every year since 2013 through points, assists and rebounds. It is free and can be played through the iOS app, Android app and Website.
Key players
Fresh off winning Finals MVP, Jalen Brunson (G, 16.0 cr.) remains the undisputed leader of the Knicks. His ability to score 30 points against practically anyone, combined with his central role in Mike Brown’s offense, makes him one of the most reliable guards from a Dunkest perspective as well.
If Brunson’s price is already interesting, Karl-Anthony Towns (C, 16.5 cr.) could be even more appealing. After narrowly missing out on Finals MVP and playing a decisive role in the championship run, the Knicks big man enters the new season at a lower price than in the past.
The departures of Mitchell Robinson and Ariel Hukporti, offset by the arrival of Andre Drummond, could also increase his playing time. Last season, Towns averaged just 31 minutes per game, the lowest mark of his career, while still producing around 20 points and 12 rebounds per game.
If Mike Brown gives him a few more minutes, his Dunkest upside becomes even more interesting.
Potential surprises
If the Brunson-Towns pairing is the team’s main engine in the starting lineup, a similar combination could also emerge off the bench. Miles McBride (G, 6.5 cr), despite playing only half the season, set career highs in scoring and three-point percentage, shooting 41.3% on 6.6 attempts per game, making him a very intriguing under-the-radar option.
Completing the pairing is the aforementioned Andre Drummond (C, 6.0 cr), who has always delivered when called upon, especially on the glass. Given the lack of alternatives at the position and his very affordable price, he could soon become one of the most popular picks on Dunkest.
Players to avoid
Crucial to the team’s balance, less so for our Dunkest lineups. Mikal Bridges (F, 9.5 cr.) remains a valuable piece for Mike Brown, especially because of his defensive contribution and his ability to adapt to what his teammates need.
The problem, from a Fantasy perspective, is precisely the role he plays. Compared with his time in Brooklyn, Bridges has fewer offensive responsibilities, and last season his production dropped despite strong shooting percentages. At 9.5 credits, without a high volume of possessions and with limited opportunities to rack up major bonuses, we prefer players with greater offensive responsibility.
Projected starting five
PG: Jalen Brunson (Guard, 14.0 Credits)
SG: Mikal Bridges (Forward, 9.5 Credits)
SF: Josh Hart (Forward, 12.0 Credits)
PF: OG Anunoby (Forward, 12.5 Credits)
C: Karl-Anthony Towns (Center, 16.5 Credits)
Power Ranking
Winning is hard, repeating is even harder. Mike Brown has shown that smart rotation management, trust in the group and the ability to maximize alternatives can make the difference even at the highest level. This year, however, the competition in the Eastern Conference will be tougher, especially with the Celtics and Pacers back in the mix. The Knicks have a proven core, two stars capable of deciding games and a team structure that has already shown it works. Home-court advantage in the Playoffs has to be the minimum goal, while returning at least to the Conference Finals looks within New York’s reach. Defending the title will be an even tougher challenge, but the Knicks have everything they need to give it a real shot.
