Phoenix Suns 2026-2027 guide

Despite a defensive impact with few equals and a few solid additions, the Suns remain stuck in mediocrity

The Phoenix Suns also find themselves in that limbo of teams that are too weak to truly compete but too strong to tank and fully turn toward the future.

A few interesting additions have arrived, but the real season-long KPI will be accelerating the development of the young players ready to take the next step, who are the main source of intrigue on this roster.

At the end of the article, you can check out all the guides to the 30 NBA teams by visiting the Guide Index.

Dunkest NBA Fantasy Basketball is the most-played FantaNBA game in Italy, with more than 200,000 fantasy coaches competing every year since 2013 through points, assists and rebounds. It is free and can be played through the iOS app, Android app and Website.

Key players

The trajectory Devin Booker (G, 14.0 cr.) is on is concerning: after a couple of elite seasons, a massive extension and the decision to stay in Phoenix, it seems difficult for him to rediscover the right motivation to compete. In addition, the 18 games he missed last year were often due to physical issues, increasing the questions surrounding No. 1.

The biggest new addition to the roster is Miles Bridges (F, 11.0 cr.): the ultra-physical style of play demanded by coach Ott could be a perfect fit for the former Hornet’s skill set. Given the issues in the frontcourt, it is reasonable to expect solid rebounding numbers and perhaps a few surprising double-doubles.

Potential surprises

Despite playing only 32 games, Jalen Green (G, 9.5 cr.) fit particularly well with the Suns: a style built around transition play and limited ball movement is ideal for his game because it highlights his athleticism and hides his major flaws as a ball-handler. As an alternative to Booker, his isolation scoring can provide valuable points.

Khaman Maluach (C, 4.0 cr.) is undoubtedly the best low-cost option for our Dunkest teams: in Summer League, he once again showed flashes of the talent that made him a Lottery pick, and his minutes should be significant because of Mark Williams’ injury. He has long been a very good rebounder and rim protector, but his offensive contribution will determine whether he can become a real NBA player. At 4 credits, though, there are no better alternatives if you are looking for a value gain.

Players to avoid

We have already mentioned Mark Williams (C, 9.5 cr.): the serious shoulder injury that requires surgery will keep him off the court for quite some time. More generally, his medical history already cost him a major move to the Lakers more than a year ago and appears destined to limit his considerable potential for a while longer.

Projected starting five

PG: Devin Booker (Guard, 14.0 Credits)

SG: Jalen Green (Guard, 9.5 Credits)

SF: Dillon Brooks (Forward, 9.0 Credits)

PF: Miles Bridges (Forward, 11.0 Credits)

C: Oso Ighodaro (Center, 7.5 Credits)

Power Ranking

The mediocrity of the roster leaves little reason to expect anything different from last season. Even the decision to keep coach Jordan Ott (7.0 cr.) suggests there will be little room for entertainment in Arizona: physicality and intensity help, but they are not enough to make up for the shortcomings of an offense that does not move the ball and does not generate dangerous shots.
