San Antonio Spurs 2026-2027 guide
After coming one step short of the finish line, the Spurs will be even hungrier this season. And with another year of experience for Wemby and company, this could be the one
The solid San Antonio Spurs core is ready to make another run, with Victor Wembanyama looking increasingly confident and comfortable, and players like Castle and Harper continuing to mature. In a season that has championship vibes, adding Harris’ experience and finding out what happens with Fox will be key to determining this team’s ceiling.

Dunkest NBA Fantasy Basketball is the most-played FantaNBA game in Italy, with more than 200,000 fantasy coaches competing every year since 2013 through points, assists and rebounds. It is free and can be played through the iOS app, Android app and Website.
Key players
Victor Wembanyama (C, 28 cr) continues to tower over the NBA and Dunkest thanks to his otherworldly qualities, from his physical tools to his unprecedented talent. The Frenchman already showed during the Playoffs that he can adjust to different situations and correct mistakes, and while the DPOY award almost seems like a formality, given his average of more than 3 blocks since arriving in America, the MVP award looks very much within reach, perhaps as early as this season.
After moving ahead of his backcourt teammate in the hierarchy, Stephon Castle (G, 13.0 cr) officially becomes the team’s second option, combining quality and quantity, skill and dirty work. After a season averaging 16.7 points, 7.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds, the only real concern remains a three-point shot that is not yet fully reliable. If he improves further, a 20-point, 10-assist double-double could quickly become his trademark.
Potential surprises
We’re telling you now: keep an eye on Tarris Reed Jr. (C, 4.5 cr). The 23-year-old drafted by the Spurs was an extremely smart pick, considering their need for a physical big man who can either spell Wembanyama or play alongside him. San Antonio secured Quaintance for the future given his injury, and Reed Jr. for the present. He could turn into a Fantasy machine through points, rebounds and blocks, and above all, he could steal the spot from the useful but hardly indispensable Kornet.
Players to avoid
After mistakes on the biggest stage, a heavy contract, and the development of Harper and Vassell, De’Aaron Fox (G, 11.0 cr) could be entering his final season in a Spurs uniform. If he stays, the young Castle-Harper duo will take away a significant amount of his space, to the point that it would not surprise us to see him come off the bench as a sixth man more than once this season, after posting his worst statistical year of the last seven seasons.
Projected starting five
PG: De’Aaron Fox (Guard, 11.0 Credits)
SG: Stephon Castle (Guard, 13.0 Credits)
SF: Devin Vassell (Guard, 10.0 Credits)
PF: Tobias Harris (Forward, 10.5 Credits)
C: Victor Wembanyama (Center, 28.0 Credits)
Power Ranking
As mentioned, this could be the season in which the Spurs finally hit the jackpot. You have to lose before you learn how to win, and after losing, we will see whether they learned the lesson this season. A finish among the top two in the Western Conference looks almost guaranteed. The team has improved, and if they have learned from their mistakes, this time there may be no way to stop Wemby and company.
