Herro-Bucks: trade on the horizon? “Pistons interested”

Tyler Herro is officially a member of the Milwaukee Bucks, but his stay in Wisconsin may already be in question

After years of constant trade speculation, Tyler Herro’s tenure with the Miami Heat has officially come to an end. The 26-year-old guard was included in the four-player package acquired by the Milwaukee Bucks as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to a new team.

According to Chris Haynes of NBA on Prime, Herro is excited about this new opportunity, particularly because it allows him to return to Milwaukee, the city where he grew up and attended Whitnall High School in Greenfield.

However, the guard’s future in Wisconsin is far from guaranteed. Herro is entering the final year of his contract, which will pay him approximately $33 million, a financial situation that makes him an extremely attractive trade target for contenders seeking a proven scorer in the backcourt.

Another trade ahead for Herro? The Pistons are a candidate

With the departure of Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks appear headed toward a rebuilding phase and a significant roster reset.

As a result, Herro’s greatest value to Milwaukee’s front office may lie in his usefulness as a trade asset capable of bringing back draft picks and young talent. Among the teams reportedly interested in the former Sixth Man of the Year is the Detroit Pistons.

Detroit’s most recent playoff run highlighted the need for Cade Cunningham to have a backcourt partner capable of easing his playmaking burden and creating offense off the dribble – roles that Herro could fill immediately.

Over the coming days, Milwaukee’s front office is expected to begin exploring the market and evaluating potential offers. That said, keeping Herro on the roster to begin the 2026-27 season remains a legitimate option, allowing the Bucks to revisit the situation closer to the trade deadline and potentially maximize his trade value.
