LaVar Ball on LaMelo trade: “With Lonzo and Gelo, they’d win an NBA title”

LaVar Ball praised LaMelo Ball’s trade to the Minnesota Timberwolves and suggested adding brothers Lonzo Ball and LiAngelo Ball to create a trio that, in his opinion, would guarantee an NBA championship

LaMelo Ball’s arrival in Minnesota continues to generate buzz, and one of the first people to weigh in on the blockbuster trade was his father, LaVar Ball. In a video posted on Instagram, LaVar praised the Timberwolves’ move but also offered a very specific suggestion: reunite all three Ball brothers.

According to LaVar, acquiring LaMelo is only the first step. To complete the project, Minnesota should also bring in Lonzo Ball and LiAngelo Ball, a move that, in his view, would instantly make the Timberwolves the team to beat.

Minnesota Timberwolves, you made the best move in the NBA by getting Melo. But here’s the recipe: you’ve got to bring in the other two Ball brothers

LaVar went even further, insisting that a team featuring all three brothers would be destined to win the championship.

Melo can’t win by himself, but with his brothers, I guarantee you a championship. I never taught my boys to play individually. Together, nobody can beat them

The Ball family patriarch also pointed out that Lonzo and LiAngelo would be affordable additions financially, adding that their value would extend well beyond the court thanks to their chemistry and locker-room presence.

LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards form one of the NBA’s most exciting backcourts

Beyond LaVar’s comments, the Minnesota Timberwolves already boast one of the league’s most intriguing backcourts. LaMelo Ball arrives after a standout season with the Charlotte Hornets, averaging 20.1 points and 7.1 assists across 72 games while establishing himself as the team’s primary offensive engine.

Alongside him is Anthony Edwards, who is coming off another outstanding campaign in which he averaged 27.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists, leading Minnesota to the second round of the Western Conference Playoffs.

The pairing has the potential to be electric. LaMelo’s vision and ability to push the pace perfectly complement Edwards’ explosive scoring ability, as he relentlessly attacks the rim and creates advantages on nearly every possession.

With two playmakers of this caliber, the Timberwolves have all the ingredients to become one of the NBA’s most entertaining and unpredictable teams.
