Draymond Green’s sacrifice to bring LeBron to the Warriors
Draymond Green is willing to do whatever it takes to play alongside LeBron James with the Golden State Warriors. He says he’d gladly sacrifice his offensive role and even become the greatest corner three-point shooter in NBA history
As the entire NBA waits for LeBron James to make his decision, the Golden State Warriors are doing everything they can to turn one of the summer’s biggest rumors into a franchise-altering move. Although league speculation continues to point toward the Eastern Conference as the four-time NBA champion’s preferred destination, the Warriors refuse to back down. And once again, Draymond Green has positioned himself at the center of the recruitment effort.
The 36-year-old veteran made his intentions crystal clear by declining the $27.7 million player option in his contract, temporarily giving up financial security to create the salary flexibility Golden State needs to pursue James. But Green didn’t stop there. He also took to social media to explain – with his trademark honesty – exactly how he would adjust his game if LeBron joined the Warriors.
The offense would revolve entirely around Bron. I’d become P.J. Tucker – the greatest corner three-point shooter in the history of the game

Green’s comparison was a nod to P.J. Tucker, one of the NBA’s most iconic 3-and-D players (who retired following the 2024-25 season), renowned for punishing defenses from the corners while shooting an impressive 37% from three during his five seasons alongside James Harden with the Houston Rockets.
Green’s comments signal a complete willingness – both from himself and Stephen Curry – to reshape their offensive roles and give the ball to James if it means bringing him to the Bay Area.
Still, Green’s own future remains uncertain. If LeBron ultimately turns down the Warriors, it’s no longer guaranteed that the veteran forward would re-sign with Golden State on a team-friendly deal, with several franchises reportedly prepared to offer him either a richer contract or the chance to join James elsewhere.
LeBron’s decision also depends on his family
Yet the Warriors may have one major advantage that has nothing to do with basketball: LeBron’s family, especially his daughter, Zhuri.
It’s not just about me. It’s also about the quality of life I can provide for my family. My wife, my daughter… I won’t keep you waiting much longer

Unlike Eastern Conference options such as Miami (the reported frontrunner), Cleveland, and Philadelphia, a move to San Francisco would allow James to remain on the West Coast, just a short flight from Los Angeles, where his family lives full-time and where Zhuri attends school.
It’s a family arrangement similar to the one Chris Paul managed two seasons ago – and it could ultimately become the Warriors’ strongest selling point in convincing James to join one of his longtime rivals.
