After an offseason without any major shakeups, the Phoenix Suns have moved to secure one of the team’s key contributors on and off the court. Dillon Brooks has signed a three-year, $73 million contract extension that will keep him in Phoenix through the end of the 2029-30 season.
The news was first reported by Shams Charania of ESPN, who explained that Brooks has become one of the cornerstones of new head coach Jordan Ott’s vision.

According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Suns could have offered Brooks an even richer extension worth as much as four years and $125 million. Instead, Brooks agreed to a more team-friendly deal worth roughly $24.3 million per season, while still securing his future through 2030.
Suns opt for continuity
Over the past few years, Phoenix has undergone several transformations. First came the era built around Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker, followed by the arrivals of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal – moves that ultimately fell short of turning the Suns into true championship contenders.
Last season, however, Phoenix found its identity again against all expectations. Led by Booker and Jalen Green, the Suns finished 45-37, claimed the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference, and returned to the playoffs, where they were eliminated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
Rather than chasing another superstar this summer, the front office chose to strengthen the core already in place. In addition to Brooks’ extension, the Suns re-signed Collin Gillespie, Jordan Goodwin and Mark Williams, while also adding Miles Bridges and Luke Kennard to bolster the roster.
Phoenix has taken a different approach from previous years: less of a focus on star hunting and more confidence in the players who have built something together. Dillon Brooks has become one of the clearest symbols of that new direction.
