Victor Oladipo writes to NBA GMs: “Give me an opportunity”
Victor Oladipo isn’t giving up on his NBA comeback. The former All-Star has reached out directly to the league’s general managers: his body is ready, and he’s asking for another opportunity
Victor Oladipo has not yet given up on his dream of returning to the NBA. Three years after his latest major injury, the former All-Star decided to address the league’s general managers directly through a letter published by The Players’ Tribune.
The former All-Star has seen his career dramatically altered by injuries on two separate occasions. In 2019, he suffered a ruptured quadriceps tendon, an injury that affected him for several years. After managing to return to the court, he suffered a ruptured patellar tendon during the 2023 playoffs.
Since then, Oladipo has had stints overseas and in the G League, but no NBA franchise has yet decided to offer him a roster spot. In his letter, he discussed his long road back, explaining that his biggest motivation for continuing to chase an NBA return is the possibility of playing in front of his daughter.

The message to NBA GMs is therefore direct and unambiguous. Oladipo believes he has finally returned to the physical condition necessary to compete and that he still has something to offer on the court.
The version of her dad who has finally found the perspective and humility to write a letter like this. To say to any GM willing to listen: I believe my body is finally right. I believe I can still play great basketball, and most importantly, winning basketball. I believe I can be a valuable presence in an NBA locker room. And what I’m asking for right now is an opportunity to prove it

In July, the 34-year-old organized a workout in Las Vegas that was open to NBA teams, allowing scouts to evaluate his condition firsthand. In August, he revealed that he had received “some interest” from the Sacramento Kings following Russell Westbrook’s retirement.
With the preseason just around the corner and the 2026-27 season set to begin next month, Oladipo could still have a chance to earn an NBA contract. The real question is: will there be a franchise willing to bet on his comeback?
