NBA Fantasy Dunkest Cup: How It Works

The Dunkest Cup has arrived: a brand-new H2H competition starting from Gameweek 10, with a rich prize pool

NBA Fantasy Game Dunkest Cup

This season of Dunkest gets even more exciting with an absolute novelty: from this year, all users will have the chance to take part in the Dunkest Cup, a special competition running alongside the main leaderboards, putting fantasy coaches head-to-head in direct matchups.

What is the Dunkest Cup

The Dunkest Cup is an H2H (head-to-head) competition designed to bring even more adrenaline to the game. It doesn’t start right at the beginning of the season, but is introduced mid-season and kicks off at Round 10, involving the top 50,000 teams from the global ranking.

The group stage

The first part of the tournament is structured as a group stage. The 50,000 qualified teams are drawn into 5,000 groups of 10 teams each, with a round-robin schedule.

  • Each gameweek, from Round 10 to Round 27, corresponds to a head-to-head matchup
  • The team scoring the most Dunkest points that week wins the game
  • Group standings are based on wins and losses (W–L), and in case of a tie, on total Dunkest Cup points accumulated

At the end of Round 27, the following advance to the next phase:

  • the top three teams of each group
  • plus the 1,384 best fourth-placed teams overall (based on W–L record and then total points).

In total, 16,384 teams move on to the knockout stage, while the rest are eliminated.

The group stage

After a one-round break, the Dunkest Cup resumes at Round 33 with the Knockouts, i.e., the elimination stage.

  • Matchups are random in each round, with no fixed bracket
  • The team scoring more points in that gameweek advances
  • In case of a tie, the higher-ranked team in the global leaderboard goes through (with registration date as an extra tiebreaker if needed)

The competition continues round after round until the grand final, where only two fantasy coaches will battle for the glory of becoming the very first Dunkest Cup champion.

Prizes

Along with the fun, the Dunkest Cup also comes with some very tasty prizes. The rules specify who is eligible to win them:

  • 1st place: €1,000 Amazon voucher
  • 2nd place: €500 Amazon voucher
  • 3rd–4th place: €200 Amazon voucher each

Another reason to fight until the very end and try to carve your name into the history of this brand-new competition!
