Two days after being suspended for displaying a gun on an Instagram Live over the weekend, Ja Morant released a statement on Tuesday night, taking responsibility for his actions and acknowledging how many people he has disappointed with his behavior.

Here are the words of the Memphis Grizzlies player, made public by Adrian Wojnarowski via his Twitter profile:

I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do. My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself

Adrian Wojnarowski

Morant has been suspended from all team activities while the league investigates the situation. He had already served an eight-game suspension earlier in the season when he displayed a gun in a Colorado nightclub in March.

Shortly before the NBA Lottery, Adam Silver also commented on the incident involving Morant, expressing surprise and stating that the NBA is investigating the exact circumstances regarding the video but is “assuming the worst”

Honestly, I was shocked when I saw this over the weekend. We are investigating the matter. We will understand exactly what happened in the best way possible… but I am assuming the worst. We will figure out what happened here
