Haslem and Green clash over the Adebayo-Herro fight

Draymond Green took aim at Heat Culture following reports of the altercation between Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, while Udonis Haslem came to the defense of the Miami locker room

The “locker room code” and the very concept of Heat Culture have become the center of a heated war of words, reigniting the long-standing rivalry between two of the toughest personalities in modern NBA history: Udonis Haslem and Draymond Green.

The spark came in Las Vegas, where – according to multiple insidersBam Adebayo and Tyler Herro (recently traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in the deal for Giannis Antetokounmpo) were involved in a physical altercation.

Speaking on his podcast, the Golden State Warriors forward used the reports as an opportunity to challenge Haslem directly, accusing him of applying a double standard compared to 2022, when Green punched then-teammate Jordan Poole.

I was wondering if Udonis Haslem is going to bring that same energy this time. When it happened with me and Poole, he was one of the loudest critics without even knowing the full context. Yet I’ve seen Haslem nearly come to blows with Jimmy Butler, who was younger than him. Now two guys he helped raise are fighting in Vegas. Tyler Herro is from Milwaukee and he’s just as outspoken as Jordan Poole, and probably says things that are just as disrespectful. But now everybody’s quiet. Maybe fights just never happen at Miami practices?

Draymond Green

Haslem wasted no time responding, firing back on social media with no attempt at diplomacy. The former Heat captain, who spent 20 seasons in Miami, completely rejected Green’s comparison, calling him “delusional” and pointing to what he sees as fundamental differences between the two incidents.

I see some things never change. You were a fake tough guy four years ago when you sucker-punched Jordan Poole, and you’re still one now. If you think a 32-year-old man with four championship rings punching a 23-year-old kid (Poole) is the same thing, you’re completely out of your mind. First of all, Bam is 28 and Tyler is 26. Neither of them has life all figured out yet. Second, anyone who knows Bam knows he’s as strong as a bear cub. If he had thrown that punch with full force, it would’ve ended badly for Tyler. You, on the other hand, jumped that kid with a nightclub punch

Udonis Haslem

Haslem also defended his well-known sideline confrontation with Jimmy Butler in 2022, explaining what he sees as the difference between holding teammates accountable and fostering a toxic environment.

Yeah, I went right at Jimmy. You’re right about that. The nonsense you pull in Golden State – or the things Jimmy used to do in Chicago and Minnesota, where he’d disrespect teammates and coaches – doesn’t fly in Miami. I put him in his place. Call it Heat Culture or whatever you want, but before I let a player disrespect Coach Spo in front of the team and tear apart the locker room, I’ll kick his ass. I owe that to my veterans like Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway

Udonis Haslem

There continues to be plenty of speculation surrounding the reported altercation between Herro and Adebayo, and it’s likely that more details will emerge in the coming days. As always, the NBA isn’t just about basketball – it also comes with its share of off-court drama, even when the stories aren’t the happiest ones.
