Dunkest Draft Mode, our top 10 draft picks

A lot of certainties and a few gambles: here are our recommendations for the first choices in the Dunkest Fantasy Basketball draft

Let’s see our predictions for the top 10 picks of the 2023/2024 season, including confirmations, redemptions, and some prospects for the following picks.

Top 10 Dunkest Draft Mode Picks

1. Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets)

At the number one pick, there’s no other option than to go for the Serbian, the fresh winner of the MVP title in the last Finals. Denver’s star took a few weeks off in the summer to recharge, and we are confident that come the tip-off on the 24th of October, he’ll be ready to defend the NBA championship at all costs.

2. Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks)

We are getting closer to Luka Magic’s definitive consecration. Dallas’ front office hasn’t overhauled the team but has added important elements for the Slovenian’s game, which could benefit both his personal production and the team’s wins.

3. Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers)

With the James Harden experiment in Philadelphia falling through, he will be the only true star on which the Sixers’ offensive strategy will be based. It remains to be seen whether the management will be able to trade the Beard or if they will wait until the season begins, thus starting the season under the guidance of the new coach, Nick Nurse.

4. Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks)

Giannis can be more than satisfied with the trade that brought Lillard to the Bucks. With a shorter rotation in terms of scorers, the two stars will be called upon to make a significant offensive effort even in the Regular Season if they want to arrive at the 2024 Playoffs with an excellent record. In terms of Fantasy Basketball, he might lose a bit with Dame’s arrival, which is why we place him at the fourth pick.

5. Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers)

His Fantasy Basketball value has grown significantly after the last season, and it’s worth the risk for the fifth pick. We expect consistent double-double performances from Haliburton, while Indiana should have a season far from the tanking zones.

6. Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings)

The Lithuanian center has finally found his place with the Kings, and it’s unlikely his contribution under the boards will worsen. The California franchise has created a strong group, although it seems that something is missing to allow Fox and Sabonis to make the definitive leap in quality.

7. Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers)

If we weren’t talking about an injury-prone player, we would include him in the top 3 picks in the Dunkest Draft every year. Despite a few too many injuries, he is considered a superstar, and if you’re not worried about his physical condition, go all-in on Anthony Davis’ talent.

8. Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics)

Despite his young age, Jayson Tatum is a bona fide NBA star, and Boston’s fortunes will once again depend on the Duke product. Offensive production is excellent, and so is his physical endurance. In terms of Fantasy Basketball, he often brings too many negatives, but the race for the title also depends on his maturation.

9. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thuner)

The past NBA season and the World Cup confirmed the incredible talent of the Thunder player. With Holmgren’s return, the Oklahoma City franchise can aim for a high-level season, and it could be a breakthrough season for their star.

10. Steph Curry (Golden State Warriors)

The previous regular season for the GSW was too inconsistent, and repeating the same mistake could cost Coach Kerr’s team dearly. For this reason, we believe that Steph Curry wants to set a good example for his teammates right from the start, and the triple-pointer bonus is virtually a formality.
