NBA Fantasy Captain Picks
Are you unsure who to make captain for the Dunkest round? Here are our tips, one for each turn.
Centers
Derik Queen (New Orleans Pelicans, 8.6 cr)
I Pelicans will face the Trail Blazers in Game 3, who are without a fully fit Clingan – still the third-worst defense against opposing centers – and they finally seem to have decided to reduce Missi’s and Looney’s minutes in his favor. Queen is a player capable of impacting all statistical categories – the triple-double against the Spurs confirms this – and of contributing significantly in assists, an aspect not to be underestimated in our selections.
Maxime Raynaud (Sacramento Kings, 6.9 cr)
Convincing performances against the Rockets and Heat – far from easy opponents – encourage us to give him a chance. Sabonis’ long absence has forced the Kings to look for alternative solutions, and the rookie seems ready to carve out his own space, surpassing the limits of the lower tier.
Forwards
Deni Avdija (Portland Trail Blazers, 15.8 cr)
With as many as six players on the injury report, Avdija’s importance for the Trail Blazers – already very high – rises exponentially. He has come close to a triple-double multiple times this season and, against the Pelicans, who have the fifth-worst defense against opposing wings, he could reach very high PDK levels.
Noah Clowney (Brooklyn Nets, 7.4 cr)
After a three-game streak with strong scores, last game against the Pelicans fell short of expectations. We can take advantage of the low performance to secure yet another gain, considering that the Mavericks, given recent absences, are allowing more than usual to opposing wings and will inevitably need to focus more on Claxton and Porter Jr.
Guards
Keyonte George (Utah Jazz, 11.7 cr)
The back-and-forth with George and our teams mainly depends on favorable or unfavorable matchups. At a still very attractive price, in Game 4, against the league’s worst defense on guards, we can’t help but back him again and keep him as a safety net.
Jaylon Tyson (Cleveland Cavaliers, 7.5 cr)
He is making the most of the opportunities given in the starting lineup, consistently delivering solid and convincing performances. The Wizards series could be wrapped up early by the Cavs, giving the young players even more room, especially considering Washington’s rather revamped lineup in recent games.
Coach
Kenny Atkinson (Cleveland Cavaliers, 8.0 cr)
In an Eastern Conference where just a couple of wins can move a team from 9th to 2nd place, the Cavs should have no trouble getting past the Wizards, the bottom team with only three wins this season. Some returns for Cleveland and a few absences for Washington only widen an already significant gap.
