The NBA Playoffs 2026 have started., and we won’t leave you alone. Dunkest’s NBA Fantasy Basketball will continue through the Play-In and Playoffs.
League and draft
As announced at the start of the season, the regular season and Playoffs are part of a single competition. This means each league and draft can decide whether to stop or continue all the way through the Finals.
Here are the available options for the 2026 NBA Playoffs:
- Continue with your current team in the same league until the end of the Playoffs
- Create a new league/draft while keeping your current team and accumulated credits
- Create a new league starting from scratch, with a new team and fewer credits than you currently have
Average scores and teams not on the schedule
- Teams that are on the schedule but marked as resting will receive their average score (including all players on the roster, injured ones as well, plus the coach). This is designed to optimize the NBA calendar as much as possible. As in the regular season, players who receive an average score due to scheduling reasons will NOT get the 1.5x captain bonus if selected as captain.
- Teams NOT on the schedule (players, coaches, and unavailable players) will NOT be considered “resting teams” and will NOT receive an average score, but instead 0 points. These are teams that have been eliminated or have already qualified and are waiting for their next Playoff opponent.
NBA Fantasy Captain Picks
Are you unsure who to make captain for the Dunkest round? Here are our tips, one for each turn.
Centers
Luke Kornet (San Antonio Spurs, 5.6 cr)
While his low price reflects the limited role he has had throughout these playoffs, Luke Kornet has delivered whenever his number has been called. In the three games where he logged more than 20 minutes, he averaged 25.1 FPT, 10.3 points, and 9.3 rebounds. An interesting statistical crossover emerges when looking at the season series against the Knicks. San Antonio’s lone victory came with Kornet playing 24 minutes, producing nearly the same fantasy output. Perhaps he could be the key to reducing the physical burden placed on Victor Wembanyama.
Forwards
Josh Hart (New York Knicks, 12.1 cr)
After posting 33.1 FPT despite a rough shooting night – thanks to 15 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals – it’s impossible not to recommend Josh Hart. A crucial piece for the Knicks, Hart has already stated he’s willing to defend Wembanyama if needed. This season, New York has yet to lose to San Antonio in games where Hart has played, and he previously recorded a double-double against them. With just a few more made shots, surpassing the 40 FPT mark is far from unrealistic.
Keldon Johnson (San Antonio Spurs, 5.1 cr)
At a true bargain-bin price, the Spurs will need Keldon Johnson to rediscover his impact off the bench if they hope to bounce back against New York. The numbers show that San Antonio’s only win against the Knicks this season coincided with a 23.4 FPT performance from Johnson, who posted 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. With Gregg Popovich surely making his voice heard, we expect Johnson to return to form in front of the home crowd.
Guards
Dylan Harper (San Antonio Spurs, 9.1 cr)
In Game 1 against New York, Dylan Harper came close to a double-double with 21.5 FPT, 16 points, and 8 rebounds, while shooting an efficient 60% from the field. Harper answered the call despite the Spurs’ struggles, and we’re confident he’ll bring that same energy into Game 2. Reaching the 30 FPT mark should be well within reach.
Miles McBride (New York Knicks, 4.7 cr)
A player averaging more than 19 minutes per game in these playoffs for fewer than 5 credits immediately grabs our attention. Miles McBride has already shown the ability to produce surprise breakout performances, and in his lone regular-season matchup against the Spurs, he finished with 26 FPT and 21 points. That makes him a low-cost gamble worth taking.
Coach
Mike Brown (New York Knicks, 13.9 cr)
Mike Brown’s Knicks have once again shown their ability to fight back and reclaim control of games, turning things around exactly when needed – led as usual, by Jalen Brunson. With a chance to reach 12 consecutive playoff victories, New York would surpass both the 1988-89 Lakers and LeBron James’ 2016-17 Cavaliers, while the all-time mark of 15 straight postseason wins set by the 2017 Warriors remains within sight.
