The NBA Playoffs 2026 have started., and we won’t leave you alone. Dunkest’s NBA Fantasy Basketball will continue through the Play-In and Playoffs.

League and draft

As announced at the start of the season, the regular season and Playoffs are part of a single competition. This means each league and draft can decide whether to stop or continue all the way through the Finals.

Here are the available options for the 2026 NBA Playoffs:

  • Continue with your current team in the same league until the end of the Playoffs
  • Create a new league/draft while keeping your current team and accumulated credits
  • Create a new league starting from scratch, with a new team and fewer credits than you currently have

Average scores and teams not on the schedule

  • Teams that are on the schedule but marked as resting will receive their average score (including all players on the roster, injured ones as well, plus the coach). This is designed to optimize the NBA calendar as much as possible. As in the regular season, players who receive an average score due to scheduling reasons will NOT get the 1.5x captain bonus if selected as captain.
  • Teams NOT on the schedule (players, coaches, and unavailable players) will NOT be considered “resting teams” and will NOT receive an average score, but instead 0 points. These are teams that have been eliminated or have already qualified and are waiting for their next Playoff opponent.

NBA Fantasy Captain Picks

Are you unsure who to make captain for the Dunkest round? Here are our tips, one for each turn.

Centers

Jarrett Allen (Cleveland Cavaliers, 12.0 cr)

The Cavs big man seems to be in a completely different gear compared to the middle part of the season, when, once he found form and rhythm, he was racking up points and fantasy production like there was no tomorrow. The Cavs are likely in the last year where this roster setup will remain, and if the front office has to make future decisions soon, it’s up to Allen in the present to convince them with a solid performance that we expect is ready to come.

Neemias Queta (Boston Celtics, 11.7 cr)

Be careful not to underestimate Queta given Embiid’s return. He has already shown this season that he can be very solid, and he just grabbed 14 rebounds, no small feat. In what is shaping up to be a high-intensity game between Boston and Philadelphia, it wouldn’t be surprising if his scoring averages also tick up a bit, opening the door to a double-double that would comfortably push him beyond 30 fantasy points.

Forwards

Jabari Smith Jr. (Houston Rockets, 11.2 cr)

The absence of Durant and experienced players like VanVleet and Adams forces the Rockets to mature at record speed, and among them Smith Jr. looks the most ready to lead the team. In the series against the Lakers, his worst performance has still been around 20 fantasy points, with 18 points scored, and he has already recorded a double-double. By exploiting LeBron’s fatigue, he can make a serious offensive impact. If the Rockets want to stay alive, it has to go through him.

Spencer Jones (Denver Nuggets, 4.7 cr)

We’re digging deep into the underbelly here, under 5 credits, for one of the most situational fantasy players out there. Spencer Jones seems to have earned a starting spot for this series, and as shown, thanks to injuries weakening Minnesota, the Nuggets’ comeback route also runs through his contribution. At this price point, we’re backing him with confidence.

Guards

Quentin Grimes (Philadelphia 76ers, 7.0 cr)

Right on the edge of the bargain zone, with 7 credits and a strong desire to emerge, Quentin Grimes is the perfect player to bring points and value in this Game 7. The 76ers need to fight and go all-in every game. The Celtics no longer look untouchable, and Grimes, helped by increased minutes, has finished the last two games above 20 fantasy points, scoring 18 in one and 12 points with 6 assists in the other, helping keep Philly afloat.

Ja’Kobe Walter (Toronto Raptors, 6.2 cr)

In fantasy basketball, Ja’Kobe Walter becomes an interesting sleeper with Immanuel Quickley out and Brandon Ingram questionable. Minutes and responsibility could increase, especially on offense, with more shots and a bigger role in the rotation. In this scenario, he’s a low-cost player worth keeping an eye on.

Coach

Kenny Atkinson (Cleveland Cavaliers, 8.8 cr)

With the series in their favor and the Raptors far from calm opponents, coach Atkinson’s Cavs will do everything to close it out as quickly as possible. The roster is mature and looks more ready to win than Toronto’s, with experienced players and prime-age talent like Mobley. Given the cost and matchup, he’s a solid pick.
