Jaylen Brown traded to the 76ers for Paul George: “A sad day for Boston”
Jaylen Brown is headed to the Philadelphia 76ers in a blockbuster trade, ending his 10-year run with the Boston Celtics. In return, Boston acquires Paul George and a package of future draft picks
No one saw it coming just a few days ago, but it’s now official: Jaylen Brown is leaving the Boston Celtics. The franchise has traded its longtime No. 7 to the Philadelphia 76ers, completing one of the most stunning deals in recent NBA history.
In exchange, Boston receives Paul George, two first-round picks (2028 and 2031), and two second-round picks (2028 and 2030). It’s a move that dramatically reshapes the future of both franchises.
The 2028 first-round pick could become a pick swap if it benefits Boston. The two second-rounders will be the most favorable selections available among the Warriors, Thunder, and Bucks in 2028, and among the Wizards, Trail Blazers, and Suns in 2030.
A new beginning for the Celtics
Brown’s name had been heavily involved in trade rumors over the past few days. The Celtics also attempted to include him in talks for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but after those negotiations fell through, they continued exploring other options before reaching an agreement with Philadelphia.
One key detail, however, changes the perspective on the deal: Brown never requested a trade. In fact, he recently reiterated his desire to stay.
If it were up to me, I’d stay with the Celtics for a long time

Shams Charania also made a point to clarify the situation.
As far as I know, Jaylen Brown never requested a trade. He never asked to leave Boston

In other words, the decision came directly from the Celtics’ front office.
A contender is born in Philadelphia
The 76ers add a player in the prime of his career to a core that already features Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe. The goal is clear: compete for an NBA championship.
Interestingly, Brown and Embiid haven’t always exchanged compliments. Following last May’s playoff series, the former Celtic said:
Joel Embiid is one of the best big men in basketball history, but he flops a lot. He knows it too. That’s nothing new

Perkins: “The Celtics handed the Finals to the Sixers”
The trade has already sparked widespread debate across the United States. Among its harshest critics is Kendrick Perkins, who didn’t hold back.
It’s a sad day for the Boston Celtics. Paul George hasn’t been consistent in years. Brad Stevens basically handed the Philadelphia 76ers a trip to next season’s NBA Finals

How the trade reshapes the title race
The blockbuster has already shifted the championship landscape according to sportsbooks. Philadelphia’s title odds have surged, while Boston has inevitably slipped after parting ways with one of the league’s top players.
